The refurbished Philips InnoSight is a compact tablet-style portable ultrasound machine designed for point-of-care applications (bedside ultrasound) for quick diagnosis and high mobility.

The used Philips InnoSight is a shared service system with Continuous Wave Doppler, allowing it to perform basic cardiac as well as OB/GYN, Small Parts, Vascular, MSK, Needle Guidance, and Abdominal imaging.

The InnoSight includes Philips’ imaging technologies such as SonoCT compound imaging, XRES speckle reduction imaging, Power Doppler, Directional Color Power Doppler, Trapezoidal Imaging, Anatomical M-Mode, Needle Visualization, Tissue Harmonics and DICOM compatibility.

WiFi, optional small-footprint cart, and USB expands the InnoSight’s capabilities to allow for excellent portability and connectivity options. It can also boot in less than 2 seconds from sleep mode (25 seconds from a cold boot). It has a glove-compatible 11.6″ touchscreen.

While it is a touchscreen based user interface, a Bluetooth keyboard and wireless mouse can be added.

Providian Medical Philips InnoSight Review:

Built with durability and portability in mind, the InnoSight is another tablet-style ultrasound to offer to the popular point-of-care ultrasound market. Image quality is among the best in the tablet-style ultrasound market but a bit pricey … as most Philips systems are. It is a highly portable ultrasound that is a very good choice for those seeking a very portable, quick-diagnosis machine.

Q:Does CW Doppler make this a good choice for Shared Service ultrasound scanning?

A: While CW Doppler adds the ability for more complete diagnosis than other non-CW machines, this is not designed as a complete diagnostic machine. It is designed for quick diagnoses and not complete ultrasound studies.

Q:What are SonoCT and XRES?

A: SonoCT is Philips nomenclature for compound imaging, and XRES is also known as Speckle Reduction imaging. Philips was among the first to develop these technologies and it's considered excellent on its ultrasound machines.

Q:How much does the InnoSight weigh?

A: The InnoSight weighs approximately 5.5 pounds.

Q:I'd like to use this in my office, is it a good choice?

A: The InnoSight is not designed for complete full-diagnostic studies, however, it can perform these actions. It allows for a keyboard, and a cart would be recommended, however, a more complete portable or console-based system would be recommended. This is a good system in situations where high portability is among the most important requirements.

Q:I'm worried about durability on a tablet-style ultrasound, is a used InnoSight a good choice?

A: Philips claims it is a durable system, however, with any system that has exposed glass, it is more prone to damage.

Q:What probes are compatible with this system?

A: At its release, the InnoSight offered 4 transducers. Convex, linear, endovaginal and sector probes.
