The standard, original “Voluson 730” is no longer available on the refurbished market. We recommend viewing one of its popular replacements, the GE Voluson 730 Pro, GE Voluson 730 Expert, GE Voluson e8 Expert, or GE Voluson S6. These are the popular current versions of the excellent GE Voluson line of 3D/4D ultrasound machines.

At Providian Medical, we highly recommend a refurbished Voluson ultrasound machine over the competitors for excellent 3D/4D obstetric imaging.

The Voluson 730 Pro and Expert models have very good frame rates in 4D, and versions BT04 and later include CrossXBeam and SRI Speckle Reduction imaging, which improve image quality in its standard 2D imaging, while SRI also improves image quality in 4D over the BT02 and BT03 models.

The Voluson 730 ultrasound system is not only for 4D. It has excellent image quality in 2D modes and is very popular in OB/GYN/Vascular/Small Parts and general Women’s Health situations.

Providian Medical Expert Review:

The GE Voluson 730 has always been one of our favorite and best-selling ultrasound machines. It is very stable and probes have a long life. The image quality, even on its oldest models, is still considered very good and these can be available for even the tightest budgets. If you’re considering a 4D ultrasound for your practice, conversations typically start and end with the Voluson 730.

We find that the Voluson 730 has an excellent user interface, is easy-to-use and is extremely reliable. This remains of our favorite and best-selling ultrasound machines.

Q:What's the difference between the Voluson 730 Pro and Voluson 730 Expert ultrasounds?

A: Expert revisions of the used Voluson ultrasound systems have a touch screen. Additionally, at each of their simultaneous releases, the Expert had higher frame rates than the Pro, and also included higher-end software features, such as VOCAL, STIC, and Tomographic Ultrasound Imaging.

Q:What is CrossXBeam?

A: CrossXBeam on the GE Voluson 730 is also known as compound imaging. It allows the ultrasound transducer to see from multiple lines of site at different angles, as opposed to the standard line-of-site that's perpendicular to the transducer lens.

Q:What is SRI Speckle Reduction Imaging?

A: Speckle Reduction Imaging on the Voluson 730 ultrasound machine uses a special software algorithm to identify body tissue and eliminate artifact. The result provides a clearer image with reduced artifact.

Q:Can I export images to CD/DVD from the Voluson 730?

A: Yes, the Voluson 730 can export JPG, BMP, TIFF and avi to its integrated CD/DVD R/W drive.

Q:Does the Voluson connect to USB storage devices?

A: No, the Voluson 730 can only export images to an external DVD-writer, network folder, or DICOM network.

Q:Can I connect the Voluson 730 ultrasound to my network?

A: Yes, you can connect it to a network for image/patient information transfer as well as export in DICOM format to a DICOM server. Be sure to let your Providian Medical sales specialist know that you'll need DICOM enabled if you plan on connecting to a DICOM-enabled server.

Q:Can I connect the Voluson 730 to an external monitor and/or DVD-Recorder?

A: Yes, but it's not always an easy procedure. Our specialists at Providian Medical know the secrets to setting this up and can customize/tailor the setup to your unique needs.

Q:What is BT02, BT03, BT04, BT05, and BT08 on GE ultrasound machines?

A: This is GE's version of a software level. The "BT" stands for Breakthrough and the "0x" typically represents the year it was released. For example, in most situations, such as with a Voluson 730, a BT05 Voluson 730 Expert would be a used Voluson 730 Expert ultrasound with a software version of 5.x and released circa 2005. For the Voluson 730 Pro and Expert machines for sale, there are BT02, BT03, BT04, BT05, and BT08 releases.

Q:What is VOCAL?

A: VOCAL stands for Volume Calculation. It allows for calculations of volumes using 3D technology.

Q:What is STIC?

A: Spatio-Temporal Image Correlation is typically used in research for clinical assessment of the fetal heart. It acquires the fetal heart from a 4D image sequence and analyzes the image to create a 4D cine sequence that presents the fetal heart in a real-time multi-planar display.

Q:What is TUI?

A: Tomographic Ultrasound Imaging uses 4D imaging technology to allow clinicians to view simultaneous parallel slices of a volume data set.

Q:What's the difference between 3D and 4D imaging?

A: Very little. This is similar to the difference between a snapshot from your camera or a video. 3D is a single image, while 4D is a live, real-time image. In 4D obstetric situations, you would be able to see the baby move, smile, yawn, stretch, etc. The 3D image is one static image while 4D is live continuous imaging.

Q:What probes are compatible with the GE Voluson 730 Ultrasound Equipment?
