GE Logiq ultrasound machine now helping wildlife in Virginia

While used and refurbished ultrasound machines have always found a second life in human medicine for many years after their original use, the Wildlife Center of Virginia recently received a unique gift when a used GE Logiq 700 ultrasound machine was donated to the facility. Originally purchased for $100,000, the used ultrasound machine was valued at $5,000 to $10,000, which demonstrates how affordable ultrasound equipment can be, even those made by top ultrasound manufacturers like General Electric.
“We are so glad to have the machine,” said Dr. Elizabeth Daut in an article published on the website of the Charlottesville News and Arts. “It’s ultra-high-end quality.”
The center plans to use the ultrasound machine to perform scans on birds and mammals instead of conducting expensive invasive procedures.
